Larry Steinhart, Presidentbegin
LarrySteinhartThis year marks my 35th year working in the school business community. My career started in the mid-1970's providing school finance training and support services to school districts through the Questar III BOCES State Aid Planning Service, a service I helped found and then directed to serve over 500 districts statewide. I subsequently served as the Director of Financial and Information Services for that BOCES, in which capacity I streamlined and automated their financial operations and enhanced the business office role in support of the agency's overall management and operations.  In 1986 I left the BOCES to become the Director of Research and Development for NYSASBO. In that role I assisted districts in assessing internal workflow and business office staffing to meet demand, and I was a champion for adapting those "new-fangled" microcomputers for use in the school business office. While at NYSASBO I also designed and implemented a budget development application that helped hundreds of business administrators compile and present their proposed budgets and prepare tax projections. continued

MEET THE TEAMbottom continued from above
I left NYSASBO in 1990 to form Capital Computer Associates. After developing the FACCTS application to facilitate special BOCES accounting and reporting functions, we began the development of WinCap and released the first version on July 1, 1996.

On the home-front, my wife Joyce and I are settling into our new lifestyle as empty-nesters. Joyce retired last year after over 30 years of service with the NYS Office of Mental Disabilities. Daughter Stephanie graduated with a degree in finance from Siena College in May and is now working on our WinCap accounting support team. Son Evan is a junior at UConn and has aspirations to be an actuary. Our three pugs Lily, Rocco, and Penny are enjoying our devoted attention. Weekends these days are mostly spent enjoying the beauty of Lake George and the surrounding Adirondacks and nearby Vermont, relaxing, boating, or skiing. My masochistic side keeps me a devoted Bills fan, honoring my Buffalo roots. While retirement for me is not something that I foresee anytime in the near future, Joyce and I hope to start becoming snow birds for a few months each winter.

WinCap has been my labor of love for the past 17 years, and here we are today serving almost 200 school districts and BOCES. In today's economy and with all the demands on our time, reality dictates that we utilize the technology at our disposal to communicate and share information. I am excited to be launching this new means for keeping in touch with the entire WinCap community. I am proud to be serving all of you who work to serve the students of our state, and I look forward to continuing to do so for many years to come.
